Intro(-spect)!

Hello and welcome to the site!

I’m kicking off with an introductory post that stems from an observation from around 12 months ago.

The Aha! moment occurred when I paused to admire a wall full of coloured pages at my local sushi restaurant (pictured). I’ve lived most of my personal and professional life like the coloured picture at the top left. Striving for perfection, paying attention to the littlest detail, being conservative and “keeping within the lines”. No one drilled this into me growing up – it was a combination of inherent personality, wanting to make others happy and to leave a positive impression of myself. Life slapped me in the face throughout my thirties and made me realise that this wasn’t the “right” and only way that things were done. It’s usually with a great deal of introspection and challenging your own identity that this type of insight becomes apparent.

Fortunately for me, I have a partner who is better represented by the picture at the bottom right. She’s a risk taker, knows no fear and regularly steps outside of her comfort zone – even if others disapprove. I’ve tried to join her over that side of the continuum on many occasions, but have only really ever made it half way across. I’ve recently set myself a challenge to push further across into that way of being; It’s where creativity and innovation flourish, where you get fulfillment and where you can inspire others.

It’s for these reasons that Attentyv exists and I’m looking forward to seeing where this takes me – personally and professionally. I hope you can follow the journey!
